If you are receiving a blue screen I would do a clean installation, I am not sure if it would work doing an upgrade option as I have never tried this, sorry. I have a problem. There is no way to upgrade from a bit copy of Windows to bit, or vice versa. You must backup your data, create bootable media, and do a clean install.
